• The Technical Assistant is responsible for supporting the General Manager's Office in areas of strategic importance, project management & administration. The position is required to liaise closely with employees at all levels & other external third parties to ensure the meeting of assigned deliverables in a safe, timely, cost effective & efficient manner.

• BSc. Mechanical/Electrical/Process/Industrial Engineering or equivalent from a well-recognised accredited institution. • Post graduate studies in Business Administration, Project or Engineering Management will be an asset. • Certification in project management from a well-recognised professional body would be an advantage. • At least five (5) years progressive technical experience in the power/energy sector, with at least two (2) years experience providing administrative support to a technical team/department. • Previous experience working in a Project Management oriented role. • Working competency in commercial and financial modelling and risk analysis. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and ability to integrate well into a team and build effective relationships. • Ability to adapt to continually changing priorities and aggressive project timeframes. • Possesses an analytical mind, with a keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data.

• Coordinates with the GM to develop schedules and high-level overall project schedules including but not limited to work breakdown structure, cost, timelines and scheduling for assigned outages and major projects as assigned. • Prepares and monitors overall master project schedule integrating the project work breakdown structure using an appropriate scheduling software package. • Generates schedule reports and works as assigned on resource reporting, monitoring and analyses and reports and analyzes monthly deviations discrepancies from plan (actuals versus budget/ forecast). • Assists with the evaluation of the allocation of resources and provides recommendations to the GM so as to maintain required progress. • Supports team in conducting planning reviews and participates in project reviews, assurances and risk assessments. • Interfaces with all stakeholders on planning and work progress related issues for and on behalf of the GM. • Reviews project schedules, work orders and work packages for assigned outages and major projects under the guidance of the GM or his delegate. • Performs routine clerical, administrative and other confidential functions specific to the Department or as directed by the GM. • Prepares statistical data, graphs, charts, reports and performs simple analyses with guidance from the GM or his delegate. • Arranges and coordinates meetings and presentations to share ideas, findings and develops solutions and/or action plans arising therefrom. • Provides administrative support in the requirements analysis and other technical and commercial due diligence assessments for new business opportunities and documents and communicates results of efforts. • Gathers, compiles and documents critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produces reports, presentations for various stakeholder audiences as required. • Assists with the compilation of data from the commercial and financial analysis for project feasibility along with appropriate critical analysis and recommendations that meet business needs and requirements. • Liaises with the Operations and Maintenance Support Analyst (OMSA) with the review of Departmental business plan and monitors expenditures against budgets, prioritising expenditure commitments and maximising cost efficiency in support of the organisation’s financial procedures and goals. • Undertakes and presents relevant energy market and technology research as directed by the GM or his delegate. • Assists with the preparation of business cases, board notes, cost benefit and alternative analyses and reports.
